5 May

I am not Latin, Irish, or Jewish, BUT that most certainly does not exclude my participation in events and activities that take place in lieu of their cultural traditions.  New Yorkers love an excuse to party and no matter the ‘holiday’, all are welcome to indulge in the festive happenings taking place throughout the Burroughs.

Cinco De Mayo has a very dear place in my heart. It marks the 1 year anniversary of my first time eating a baked good while at a party  in the Burton showroom. This holiday holds the perfect excuse for submerging yourself in pitchers of margaritas and stuffing your face with chips, salsa, guacamole, tacos, rice, beans, ect.

If you have the day or evening off and  have interest in any of the above, I have put together a Cinco De Mayo Survival Guide courtesy of Time Out New York, for your partying pleasure:

  1. Eat the MOST delicious taco of your life
  2. Let loose at the most popping fiestas
  3. Get rowdy and reckless off tequila
  4. Hit a piñata
  5. Drink FREE UNLIMITED margaritas and beer from 4-7 pm at the Pan American Cinco De Mayo party: The Pan American, 202 Mott St @ Spring St
  6. Binge drink into the night at Dita Von Teese’s cocktail launch party at Los Feliz  while eating  fish tacos: Los Feliz, 109 Ludlow St between Delancey and Rivington Sts (10pm-4am)
  7. Take advantage of the beautiful day and attend the Ofrenda Mexican Street Fair  with live music, dancing, and smoky jalapeno margs : 113 7th Ave South between Christopher and W 10th Streets)

Whatever you plan to do today, please have a drink(s) for me because ill be slaving away at a hamburger joint. Muchas Gracias!
