This past month I celebrated the 23rd anniversary of my life on planet E- I had a fab evening filled with wi/d adventures, and created some soulsome memories worthy of good story telling. Thank you to all my beautiful and generous friends who celebrated with me. Before leaving my apartment and shipping it Downtown, I made sure to leave my dignity at home.

First stop of our city lit adventure was dinner at SEA in Meatpacking. The stellar ambiance of this Thai resto demonstrates superb vibe coordination and most importantly supports the greater good by having extremely affordable prices (we feasted like queens for under $150). We split a few dishes between the 4 of us, and drifted into a happy zone with coconut mojito’s and lycheeeee martinis. This was my first time here, although If I may suggest checking out The Williamsburg location due to the décor equipped with swinging bubble chairs that hang from the ceiling . Def a great spot to set the tone for a girls night out.

Fact: A scene from the movie Garden State (Zach Braff/Natalie Portman) was filmed here. Being that it ranks among my top 3 all time favs, I couldn’t help myself:

Obnoxious Girl: I’ll have a ketel Cosmo, with Red Bull- and some bread. ASAP.
Andrew Largemen: …We don’t have bread
Obnoxious Girl: What do you mean you don’t have bread, how can you not have bread?
Andrew Largemen: …we’re a Vietnamese restaurant…we just don’t have bread.
Obnoxious Girl: Well, you’re not Vietnamese.
Andrew Largemen: …No I’m not
Obnoxious Girl: Can I have something to chew on! Fuck, bamboo- Whatever.

After dinner, feeling REAL nice, we headed over to clock in club time at Juliet, an orginal Supper Club who introduced the concept of “vibe dining”.The Chainsmokers, had the crowd rocking out to a plethora of fresh beats getting erbody pumped up pump pump it up.

To wrap it up, we witnessed a ‘fire show’, which featured half nake girls dancing around doing tricks with flaming hoops or something like that.

Post bounce, the point when I had all intentions of going straight home-Snail, being the best friend that she is, dragged me around the corner to Avenue Oh Avenue.

Let me just start off by saying that this place is AMAZING and loads of fun. Ave is surely the place to venture if you’re seeking a roller coaster ride of an evening, or simply trying to make out with a cute trust funder–You walk in and instantly you’re sucked into the abyss-a place where all of your inhibitions disappear and your wildest dreams come true (ok this is drastic but any nightlifer would understand). The atmosphere, an industrial feel of a gastro-lounge- but way swankier- the crowd, trendy of course, a “too cool for school” bunch but overall usually pretty pleasant.

Given the harsh standards of NYC nightlife critics, and the (that’s hot that’s not) cycle of any trendy club-I can’t recall ever hearing anything negative about this spot. Ave has remained elite for the past 3 years, all while enforcing a strict door policy throughout (props to red rope veteran Wass Stevens). I think credit is due and that it’s safe to say the Avenue has still got it.

Amidst celebration of your born day remember, it’s your party and you can cry if you want to.
